Welcome to Bone by Bone, Hair by Hair

I welcome you to this space. In sharing my stories with you it is my intention to create a safe space where rebuilding, healing and nurturing will be encouraged. Together we will embark on a journey to explore, discover, remember, honor, trust, release and forgive. We will share words of encouragement; we will challenge ourselves and each other. We will be guardians of creativity and the female instinct, of female traditions; keepers of the soul, and protectors of the Spirit Self. Together we will become a community that chooses to rise in love, where we are fleshed out and breathing life over one another. We will support each other in finding and singing our songs. I thank you for BEing here with me.

This is a powerful story, a story which connects us to our true essence of being women...healers. It is a tale of shapeshifting and the power of breath.  It serves as a reminder that we, as women, can step into our own inner strength to create and dream our dreams into being at any given moment.  It is a tale which speaks to us of "presence", of allowing us to choose life. It is the tale of La Loba; the Bone Woman. La Loba is a woman who is wild and free, strong yet gentle; she is wise and old yet somehow ageless. She is keeper of the soul, guardian of creativity and protector of the spirit self. Lo Loba is the guardian of the female instinct, of female traditions. Her tale is one of rejuvenation and promise and survival. Here is her story...

There is an old woman who lives in a hidden place among the broken slopes of the mountains in the land of the Tarahumara Indians.  A place that everyone knows in their souls but few have ever seen. She is called the bone woman, La Loba.  She is the Earth Mother who wanders the four corners collecting bones, especially the bones of wolves. She collects and preserves especially that which is in danger of being lost to the world. She creeps, crawls and sifts through mountains and dry riverbeds looking for wolf bones. Legend has it that when She has collected enough bones and the last bone to make a whole wolf has been put in place, She sits by the fire and intentionally thinks about what song she will sing. When She is sure, she stands over the skeleton and begins to sing. As She sings, the wolf begins to grow flesh and fur.  And, the longer La Loba sings, the stronger the wolf becomes; then it begins to breathe. Lo Loba keeps on singing, and the wolf leaps up and races off.  And when a ray of light from the sun, or from the moon, strikes the wolf at just the right time and place, it becomes a woman, a laughing woman...and if you look closely, you may even be able to see Her running towards the horizon.
